A pimp finds himself without income so tries to lure a naïve girl into prostitution after his ‘employee’ is hurt and imprisoned. Originially a screenplay, Accattone 1961 is an Italian drama written and directed by Pier Paolo Pasolini. In a story of pimps, prostitutes and thieves, peasant culture and other such scandalous topics (especially for postwar Italy), Pasolini creates a grim film which showcases his trademark cast of non-professional actors hailing from where the story is set.
